A Child’s Prayer (for Ireland)….

Grandchildren are one of life’s sweetest blessings! ❤

goddessdigitalart

When it gets dark
the birds and flowers
close their eyes
and say goodnight,
and God who loves them
counts the hours
and keeps them safe
’til morning’s light.

Dear Father, count the hours tonight
while I’m asleep
and cannot see,
and in the morning,
may the sun
shine for the birds, the flowers,
and me.

Beauty….

I had a group of coral tulips in the house that had passed beyond the peak of their beauty….so I took them outside and tossed them over the deck railing. I looked at them where they’d fallen and saw another kind of beauty, the fragility of the curling petals, the heart-wrenching delicacy of flowers on their way out. I gathered them up and did a series of composed shots on the weathered deck boards; this is one of my favorites.

There is beauty in every stage of the growing and fading process, even in humans. Learn to look beyond what society tells us is beautiful and find your own definition. You will see so much more with a wider field of vision!

Love and blessings to you all, today and always. 🙂

Mindfulness

I’m looking out my window at sunshine, which is illuminating a bouquet of tulips I cut yesterday evening. The light gives their petals a look of transparency, reminding me that life is fragile, and fleeting, like Spring’s first blooms. That’s no reason not to enjoy every moment, however. Too often, we overlook that which is right in front of our eyes, missing the small miracles daily life has to offer.

Today, take a moment to pause. To catch your breath. To just….BE….in the here and now. Notice the changes Spring has brought to the landscape–the fresh green sprinkled with new color. Birds building nests, the music of their songs. Close your eyes for a moment and feel life pulsing in your veins. Count your blessings. Be grateful, for no one is guaranteed a tomorrow.

The practice of mindfulness can enrich you life in ways you never imagined. It can be tricky in today’s fast-paced way of living but I guarantee it will bring you peace, and a new sense of your place in the universe. Try it!

Love, light, and blessings to you today! ❤

Forgiveness Is Easy….

Always a relevant topic…we struggle with this on a daily basis. Give yourself a break; don’t expect ‘instant’ results. Your efforts will bear fruit in time. Blessings and love to you today! ❤

Forgive Yourself
For some of you reading this, I suspect your initial reaction might be, “Sure it is.” (Where’s the sarcasm font when you need it?) Some people say “I’m sorry” as easily as they say “I love you,” without any meaning or emotion behind the words. In fact, both are examples of automatic responses which, like some over-used words, have lost their impact and/or their sincerity.

Forgiveness is an essential element to wholeness. We humans can be callously uncaring of others’ feelings–or, if not uncaring, at least oblivious. A careless comment, a petty act of unkindness, violating someone’s privacy: we’ve all been guilty of these at times. And we’ve all experienced both, as giver and receiver. When we’re on the receiving end, we become less willing to trust. In the worst case scenario, we withdraw, cherishing our wounds and grievances, walling up our heart and spirit. The poison spreads…

Bitter Heart

Broken Wings

I cam across this piece today in my Facebook memories, and find it is still relevant. Whatever you’re grappling with today, may you find a moment of peace in some small miracle. Blessings, Celia ❤

Tattered Wings Poster, Version II Val's House May 3 2012 082Life is hard. It isn’t fair, either. Bad things happen to good people; the wicked thrive. At times, it can seem like everything is out of balance. Permanently.

When you’re in the trenches, when life is at its most challenging, it’s difficult to see the way ahead. Out of whatever has you in its clutches. Did you ask to have your boat rocked? Probably not. You want to slap the next person who reminds you that all things happen for a reason; you want to learn the lesson and skip ahead to the good part. Living as we are in today’s fast paced world, we’ve come to expect instant solutions. For everything. And life doesn’t work that way, a hard truth we often batter ourselves against.

We’ve all been in that place. We will be again. At the risk of sounding clichéd (and earning myself that slap), it’s also true…

New Year, New Goals….

It’s close enough to the end of year (and where did 2016 go, anyway?!) that I’m thinking of goals. You know, the kind I can actually meet. 2016 has been filled with happiness and sorrow, loss and gain, and the usual assortment of everyday experiences. My family is well, immersed in work that fulfills them, creatively and spiritually. We all have jobs and no one goes hungry. I have much to be grateful for and I hope you do, too. This year I got involved with ViewBug and while that has been a wonderful experience, it didn’t leave a lot of time for posting here. Hence, one of my goals for the new year: post at least once a month.

I’m grateful to all of you who stuck with me even in the leaner times and look forward to reacquainting myself with you. Bright blessings to you today! xo

The Greatest Gift……

The holidays are supposed to be joyful, time spent with family and friends, those who mean the most to us. For some, like me, it’s one of the few times everyone is all together, with children and grandchildren living far from their place of birth. It’s a more mobile world, these days.

So much to do, so little time to do it all. It’s easy to become stressed out and anxious, searching for those elusive, perfect, meaningful gifts. Instead of battling crowds of crazed shoppers, consider giving the gift of your time–the most personal, valuable commodity of all. Cook a meal. Make cookie baking a family affair. Watch the little ones so their parents can have an evening out. The memories you make will last long after the decorations have been packed away, the wrapping paper and ribbons have been disposed of, and the family cat has taken over the empty boxes.

This holiday season, I wish you joy, love, peace….and abundant blessings. ❤ xo

Balance

Life is about balance–searching for it, finding it, trying to hold on to it (often too tightly, and other times, by our fingertips). Losing it. Starting over. It’s a life long process, with hiccups along the way. And as we learn and grow, the way we define ‘balance’ keeps shifting.

We’re all on the same journey, each traveling the path that calls to us. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed. There’s comfort in knowing we’re not alone. That our experience isn’t unique, just uniquely ours. There are sisters and brothers walking beside us, caring souls who will steady us when we falter. Offer a hand, a shoulder, words of wisdom and encouragement. Who will carry us for a while, if need be. You only have to open your eyes and your heart to find them…and then have the courage and humility to ask for help. As someone much wiser than all of us put it, ‘Ask, and you will receive.’

Wherever you are on your journey toward balance, I send you blessings, love, and light. xo
